Is there any information you need, that is missing?
During your placment Navigate or a similar online programme will often be used and will be your best friend. If it is not on "Navigate" it does not count. If Navigate is not updated, there will be no information to upload to the department of education to award you the final qualification. Just going to work everyday for 40+ days is not enough. Navigate is home to your:
Placement agreement
Learning Goals/Objectives
Learning journal
Record of completed hours
Minutes from the 3 reviews with your employer and your tutor
This will record:
Your contact details at the organisation
Placement Job Title, Role & Responsibilities
Location, hours, dress code, pay information, lunch breaks
The days and times you will work
Your Placement Objectives
The Pre learning about your organisation you may need to complete
The minimum starting requirements that need to be in place
You have to choose three employability learning objectives and three technical objectives. There is a list for you to choose from here, but if you want to add your own then we would encourage that too.
Everyday you are on placement you have to record the knowledge you have gained and the skills you had to use to complete the tasks. It is also important that you consider how your day has contributed to achieving your learning objectives.
If after several days you find the tasks are not supporting your objectives you need to raise this with your contact at the employer. And either seek more suitable tasks or change your objectives
The magic number here is 315. At the end of your placement you must have completed this number of hours. You will record your hours and your employer will sign them off, also on Navigate.
It is important that you advise your placement tutor of your agreed hours if they change from the initial agreement or if you complete extra hours. Navigate must be kept updated.
You will be able to track on here how close you are to the 315 and when your placement needs to end to ensure all the hours are completed.
315 hours is the equivalent of 42 days or 2 months full time.
Three reviews will be conducted during the course of your placement. These will be between the employer, yourself and the college and will last 30-40 minutes. At the moment these meetings are taking place over teams.
The purpose of these is to check the progress of your learning objectives, for the tutor to support you with any uncomfortable conversations you are not confident to have with your employer on your own and to just check your overall wellbeing.
You will be sent a meeting request by the college and this will include a copy of the review form that will be being discussed during the meeting. You are advised to prepopulate this before the meeting. We will record the meeting and the transcripts will be used as evidence that they have taken place.
