Task 1.1: Investigate the project brief

*This is subject to small changes and is taken from summer 2024 assessment

Know how to create and format a table
Ensure you hyper link your sources and they are relevant, recent and credible
Clearly state if your research is qualitiative or quantitative - ensure you quote numbers and data
Look for clues in the brief as to what you should be researching
Include data tables/graphs in your research table
Ensure you cover all elements of PESTLE in your research table
Finally explain why you have researched each item and apply it to the project brief

Ensure your PESTLE includes information about the industry in general and also includes items specific to your project brief
Narrow your PESTLE down to 3 areas that are relevant to the problem you are trying to solve for the business and focus on these in more detail.
Ensure your SWOT is a balanced perspective ie write the same amount for each element
Ensure you bring the project brief into your SWOT

Include a decision matrix as part of your decision making process - include data and weightings. To get the maths points!
Identify the advantages and disadvantages of each option - include finance data and other data
Ensure you conduct a risk analysis and apply to the brief, taking into account risk mitigation.
Mention information that would be useful in making your decision that you have not been able to source

Ensure you review the costs and benefits for for both options
Remember to consider the impact on the organisation versus costs when considering the budget in the brief.
Your cost expectations, these should come from a mix of the brief and research.
Make sure you assess the financial viability of both options
It is good practice to compare and analyse both proposed options and justifications of decisions made.
Be very confident and committed to your final solution that you are taking forward into task 1.2
Your research table/PESTLE/SWOT should all lead to your solutions, go back at the end and add to them if you need too. make sure they are telling the right story.
