The ESP takes place in the classroom under exam conditions over 25 hours, spread over a couple of weeks. It starts around the Easter break and is normally over by mid may. Some colleges/schools may choose for you to complete this in the November of year 2.
The ESP is based on one fictional business, you will be presented with an indepth case study of the business at the beginning of the assessment window. After this you will apply things that you have learnt from the core content to this business, ie project planning, finance, people etc
The assessment has 6 tasks and includes report writing, a presentation (recorded) and a group discussion.

There are two core exams, paper 1 and paper 2. They are normally spaced a week apart in the middle of June.
The exams are there to test your knowledge, you need to know all of the text book! The higher scoring questions will test your ability to critically look at how a business should address a problem ie looking at the advantages and disadvantages of a solution, more information is here.
